A dental bridge is a natural-looking fixed restoration used to fill the space left by a missing tooth. Bridges commonly attach to the teeth on either side of the missing space with crowns or dental implants. A bridge can be designed to replace one missing tooth, or several consecutive teeth when necessary. Their secure fit allows you to chew, speak, smile, and perform other activities with confidence. Bridges also protect your surrounding natural teeth from becoming misaligned and creating bite and jaw problems. They are an effective way to improve your appearance while maintaining oral health.
The process to fabricate a bridge and ensure that it fits comfortably and seamlessly alongside your other teeth typically will take two visits to our office. The dentist will need to reduce the size of teeth that will have crowns. These abutment teeth, as they are called, must be healthy enough to support the crown and bridge. If they are decayed or broken, we will opt to either build them up or have them replaced with dental implants in order to support a crown. Once your abutment teeth or implants are prepared an impression is taken and sent to our dental lab to be fabricated. During this time we’ll make you a temporary bridge to wear to protect your teeth and gums. You’ll return to our office in a couple of weeks to have the permanent restoration fitted and cemented in to place.
What are people saying?
“Excellent experience. Kind friendly and very professional. Everything explained in a clear manner. The practice is very modern and clean , and there was no wait for the scheduled appointment.”
“This is probably the best dental office I have ever gone to. The staff is very personable and I always feel welcome there. Every experience has been a pleasant one.”
“Efficient and prompt. I was pleased that I was out well before originally estimated time due to the fact that the procedure was less time consuming than it might have been, had my tooth decay been farther advanced than it actually was.”
