Porcelain Crowns
Dental crowns are restorations that are placed over the natural tooth structure in order to address trauma or decay. In some case they may be recommended for the protection and aesthetic perfection of teeth that have been chipped, broken or cracked, weakened by severe decay or infection, worn down through bite irregularities, or impacted by large fillings.
Many people have unexplained pain from filled back teeth, which is usually due to hairline cracks in the chewing surface of the tooth. Placing crowns on these teeth relieves the pain and allows a return of full dental function for these teeth. In teeth treated with root canal therapy, crowns can prevent breakage. In front teeth, older fillings can both weaken the teeth and cause esthetic issues due to staining or chipping.
