Dental crowns are restorations that are placed over the natural tooth structure in order to address trauma or decay. In some case they may be recommended for the protection and aesthetic perfection of teeth that have been chipped, broken or cracked, weakened by severe decay or infection, worn down through bite irregularities, or impacted by large fillings.

Many people have unexplained pain from filled back teeth, which is usually due to hairline cracks in the chewing surface of the tooth. Placing crowns on these teeth relieves the pain and allows a return of full dental function for these teeth. In teeth treated with root canal therapy, crowns can prevent breakage. In front teeth, older fillings can both weaken the teeth and cause esthetic issues due to staining or chipping.

Porcelain is an extremely strong and durable material, but its strength alone is not what makes it ideal for dental restorations. The surface of porcelain crowns both looks and feels identical to natural tooth enamel. Porcelain crowns can also be perfectly matched to the shade of the adjacent teeth. These traits allow porcelain crowns to fit seamlessly into your smile. In addition to looking and feeling completely natural, porcelain is stain resistant and capable of restoring full bite function and strength. These factors provide porcelain crowns unique benefits over restorations that can eventually diminish the overall quality of your smile. Porcelain is also easy to care for, requiring little to no change in your daily oral hygiene routine.

What are people saying?

“Our entire family has been using Williams Family Dentistry for many years. Their communication is always great and prompt, the office is beautiful and comfortable (love the views of the woods from the cleaning chairs). All the hygienists are excellent. On this visit Sarah recognized that I was having a little discomfort at one point during the cleaning and said–no problem, let’s do this another way–which was so nice and appreciated!”

“Everything was seamless from scheduling, prompt check in, and right on time for my appointment. The office was beautifully decorated. I appreciated the thoroughness of my hygienist and Dr. Shanna. Thank you for making my family feel well cared for.”

“Impeccable as always, from the warm greeting by name as I entered, to the caring staff and services provider by all. I could not have asked for more calming hospitality in what for most, could be an unnerving experience, going to the dentist.”
